How does an ocean wave change when it reaches shallow water?

    When an ocean wave reaches shallow water the wave begins to drag on the ocean floor, unlike in deep waters where the wave affects the water only close to the surface. Because it drags on the ocean floor, the ocean wave slows down when it reaches shallow water.
