According to the lesson, why was North Africa important to conquering states? It was of strategic military advantage. It was a source of food and trade. It had no importance whatsoever. It possessed many precious metals.

    All nations from the Mediterranean traded there, including Arabs and other traders coming from far eastern reaches. Who controlled those countries could control trade.
