    This is false because the area between 23 N and 23 S of the equator is the tropics. The temperate zone is from the 23.5 degree latitude and the 66.5 degree latitude and for example in Mexico, the US and Canada would probably include perhaps northern Mexico, and most of the US and the central part of Canada in a N-S sense.
