Explanation:
The parallel lines, are lines that are parallel, as the name suggests. They at positioned north and south from the Equator, and they make east to west concentric circles around the planet.
These lines are imaginary, thus creating by humans, and the main purpose for it has been the measuring of latitude and measuring of exact location (in combination with the meridians).
These lines are approximately 69 miles, or 111 kilometers apart. Now this is a rough average, as there are slight differences because of the elliptical shape of Earth, but the differences are very small. The distance tends to be slightly less than the average on the lower latitudes, and slightly more on the high latitudes.
