    1 micrometer = 0.000001 meter

The web is 4 micrometers so 4 times 1 micrometer:

    4*0.000001 = 0.000004 meters

The fiber is 1 hundred thousandth of a meter, so 0.00001 meter.

Now, we can see that the fiber is wider since it has less decimals. For example, if we set up an inequality:

0.00001 > 0.000004 / multiply both sides by 1 million, so we get rid of all the decimals on both sides. Since we're multiplying decimals by 1000000 (which has 6 zeroes) we move the decimal 6 places over to the right.

10 > 4, which is correct, so the fiber is wider.
