Halite is found in sedimentary rocks. Its happened after salt lakes and seas evaporated millions of years ago which left a lot of salt.

Hallite is a mineral formed in ancient seas or salt lakes, because as the water evaporated in the lakes or seas there were thick salt deposits left behind!; )
