The Balkan countries like Bulgaria, Albania Serbia etc were part of the Ottoman Empire which split off from that Empire to form their own independent states at this time and also they tried to acquire new territory for their countries which heightened tensions between them. Also, the bi g powers like Great Britain, and Russia had interests in the area or spheres of influence which they tried to maintain which also led to conflict.
