The following sedimentary rock is a rock made from mud (it is a shale). Mud accumulates in many places on earth including the deep ocean, swamps, lakes, etc. Did this mud accumulate in the ocean or on the continent?

    Explanation: Shale is a type of sedimentary rock that is most commonly found, consisting of mud, more specifically, mud particles, i. e. quartz particles and minerals. These particles are applied by water stream, are suppressed and deposited in quiet parts of the water surface. Those water areas where mud is deposited and suppressed can be lakes, lagoons, ocean depths.
