    530 CE

    Explanation:

The Roman Empire lasted for a relatively long period of time, managing to outlive pretty much all of its counterparts on European soil. This empire officially started off in 510 BCE and lasted until 530 CE.

At the height of its power, the Roman Empire was the dominant force on European soil, but also in Asia Minor, the western part of the Middle East, and the coastal part of North Africa.

This didn't lasted forever though. The empire started to face numerous problems, such as climate changes that affected the food production, greed for power by the aristocracy and neglect of the state, revolts, constant attacks by multiple tribes, corruption ... All f this combined started to contribute to a gradual decline of the Roman Empire.

The end result was fall of the empire in the year of 530 CE. From the former empire, multiple small states were formed, without having sense for unification or national identity, and often being hostile toward each other.
