    The gyres spin moves in a counterclockwise direction in the southern hemisphere. they moves in the clockwise direction in the Nothern hemisphere. Gyres are basically the major ocean currents. In the southern hemisphere, the Gyre spins move counterclockwise due to the prevailing winds and earth rotation.
