Alfred Weneger was the first to propel that the continent moves before Hess but he could not give enough evidence as to the force contributing to it movement while Hess also discovered that the continent moves and was able to give proove using the sea floor movement. Alfred was a geophysics professor and would not be allowed to gain mastery in a field he does not major in that is why some of his research were not accepted because he could not prove it all.

Hess was a professor of geology while Weneger gain mastery in geophysics, Hess believe that the continent must have moved through the ocean while Hess proved that with the spread of the sea floor, the continent does not need to push through the ocean but its been moved as the sea floor expands.

Hess made use of seismic data to explain that ocean floor sinks this was not available to Weneger.
