Explain how latitude and longitude can be used to locate places on earth's surface

Latitude is measured in degrees, and the equator is 0° latitude. The latitude of both the North Pole and the South Pole is 90°. Longitude East-west locations are established by using meridians. The meridian that passes through Greenwich, England is called the prime meridian.
