What can you infer about metamorphic rocks from their name?

    What we can infer when a rock is named a "metamorphic" is that it "could be changed in some other way." By definition, metamorphic rocks are basically from a much older rock which was exposed from hight temperatures and high pressures having its characteristics changed and altered.
