    Surface current simply refers to the stream of water current that continuously flows over the ocean water body. It is primarily caused due to the blowing wind, Coriolis force and due to the differences in the density of the water column within a water body.

    These current are responsible for the global distribution of heat energy, thereby resulting in various climatic condition in different regions of earth.

    Out of the total 100% of ocean water body, only 10% of it is involved in surface currents.
