Knowing the latitude lines measure North and South of the Equator, just as lines of longitude measure lines East and West of the Prime Meridian (which is the line of exactly 0 degrees longitude), so lines north of the Equator that are parrallel to the Equator must by labeled N for North (North of the Equator)
