A. check yearly average rainfall

B. look in a history book to find out what plants and animals used to live their

C. look around you and observe what plants and animals do live there

D. check yearly average temperatures

    I would say C, or D. A doesn't make the complete sense because it can change. And B is before the urban development (the large city).

    Check average yearly rainfall. It will tell you whether it is a dry climate, which measuring the temperature won't do.
