Earliest civilizations began on what continent?

Humans originated in Africa, where the hunter-gatherer nomads lived. Farming originated as people left Africa and made their way to the Fertile Crescent in Mesopotamia, which is now the Middle East. As farming grew, so did cities, and civilizations were born.
