    The population of Rio de Janeiro is letter B - 5-6 Million. It was officially estimated to be: 6,498,837, which made them the 2nd largest next to Sao Paulo. It is also considered the 41st largest city in the world. It was believed to be because of the increase in immigrates in the earliest time resulted to the drastic change in population growth.
