The Olympic Peninsula, Mount Rainier, and the deep 'implosion' earthquakes are all formed/produced as a result of the subduction zone that occurs in this part of the Earth. The Pacific tectonic plate and the North American tectonic plate collide, or rather the softer Pacific plate is subducting under the harder North American plate.
