The Nile River is the longest river in the world. It starts its flow from the Lake Victoria in the East African highlands, and ends up in the Mediterranean Sea. The upper flow of the river is more wild, faster, downwards, and not suitable for navigation or agriculture, while the lower flow is the total opposite, calm, slow, navigable, and excellent for agriculture. This river is extremely important for Egypt as it is the only river in the country, thus the only freshwater source. Also, the river makes big, fertile deposits on its banks each year, which is excellent for the agriculture, and the river is navigable, thus it is used for trade, travel, and tourist purposes, so it has a big economic importance. The Nile is also the river where the first civilization in that region developed, and its development was directly connected to the river, so the river has deep roots in the people's mind about its importance, so it is highly respected and valued.
