2. Scattering - sunlight can be scattered by water vapor dust particles and gas molecules according to their size compared to the wavelength. the sky appears blue due to the scattering

3. Absorption - some of the solar energy gets absorbed by the gas molecules, Ozone molecules can absorb high energy ultraviolet.
