a shield volcano is a broad, domed volcano with gently sloping sides, characteristic of the eruption of the fluid, or also known as the basaltic lava. Shield volcanoes are usually built almost entirely of lava fluid flows. it is built by the effusive eruptions, which flow out in all directions to create a shield like that of a warrior. The shield volcano is distinguished from three other major types which are the stratovolcanoes, lava domes and the cinder cones.
