oceanic waves are caused due to the gravitational pull of the moon hence these waves vary due to the following factors:

    1. temperature

    2. atmospheric pressure

    3. wind speed

    4. rotation of the earth around its axis

    5. density of the oceanic water

    6. solar heating

Oceanic factors include the pressure gradient, temperature variations and salinity differences. Ex-oceanic factors are atmospheric pressure and winds, evaporation and precipitation. Tides caused by the gravitational pull of the Moon and the Sun also play role in the forming of oceanic currents.
