The ecosystem will recover on its own. It would recover due to ecological succession reach a climax community. The term used in science to describe what will happen is forecast.

    Explanation:

As if no other disasters occur, the ecosystem will move towards betterment or will recover from the damage caused by previous disaster (s). Ecosystem structure and functions will be maintained without any disturbance such as nutrient cycling, diversity maintenance and habitat structure will be maintained. The ecosystem will progress constantly without any obstacle or disturbance. Ecosystem recovery depends upon the degree of destruction occured. If the destruction is intense so it will require more than 20 years to recover or if the destruction of ecosystem is not that intense and is predicted to be recovered in 20 years. So we use the term forecasting or prediction to describe what will happen in the coming time.
