    The Northern European Lowlands does contain tundra, forest, and steppe terrain. The mountains in the Western Upland were indeed once part of Appalachian Mountains. The Alpine Mountains begin in Northern Spain and run East. The Alps are one of the highest and largest mountains in the world. It spans across France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria and Slovenia.
