In earthquakes that cause the greatest damage, at what depth would slippage most likely occur?

    Scientists have found that earthquakes that are shallow generally do more damage above ground than those deeper. Earthquakes as shallow as 2 to 4 miles do catastrophic damage and are more sever then those of 50 miles.
