    Explanation:

    This is the area right after you pass through the unsaturated zone. Water in the earth fills up pores in the capillary fringe due to tension saturation. This is when the water underground is pushed up into the capillary fringe due to the sheer pressure of the earth beneath it. This is the area most wells are dug to.
