Ocean acidification refers to the addition of a high amount of carbon dioxide (CO₂) into the oceans and results in the decreasing level of pH in the ocean water.

This ocean acidification is mostly caused due to the activities done by humans. The oceans have undergone acidification globally at a very large scale.

In order to reduce the effect of ocean acidification, the following precautions must be taken-

The burning up of fossil fuels releases a large amount of carbon into the atmosphere. So, the use of these resources must be reduced. The deforestation process must be abolished, as the plants and trees take up carbon dioxide and in turn gives oxygen. The alternative energy sources like wind energy, water energy, tidal energy must be used, which does not produce any type of harmful gases.
