This genus of primates already presents a huge difference in terms of skull compared to apes: it had the vertebral column directly inserted at the base of the world, which confirms that it was designed to stand up on the hind limbs.

However, their brains were still very similar to that of apes, 35% less than that of modern humans (500 ml). Furthermore, their skulls were elongated, with sunken chins and large jaws.

    Physical characteristics of Australopithecus

Australopithecus affected long, stout arms, similar to those of apes, indicating that it combines its movement on the lower extremities with the climbing of trees or climbing between branches.

They were small and thin, with a size of between 1.20 and 1.40 meters high. Sexual dimorphism in its species was quite pronounced, with the male being able to reach 50% more size than the female.
