    Effortful control involves being able to manage, exhibit or inhibit behaviour to suit the situation in an environment, especially when one does not particularly want to do so. Negative mood has been linked to expression of anger, aggression, fear, sadness and discomfort while exuberance is linked to positive energy, risk taking and joy.

    These dimensions shape who we eventually become, how we perceive ourselves and how others perceive and react to us.
