The correct answer is - Germany's landscape is a gradual descent of mountains to plains running from south to north.

In general, Germany's landscape is very simple, there's the high mountains in the south and the relief is gradually lowering down as we move to the north were there are the lowlands that end on the shores of the North Sea. This is due to the fact that the southern part of Germany is occupied by the Alps and thus the terrain is mountainous and very high, but apart from the south the central and northern parts of Germany are not under the influence of the Alpine Orogenesis, or any other process that would cause the forming of highlands for that matter so we have very low plains. So as the mountains in the south end, the terrain is gradually lowering down and from the southern part of central Germany up to the coastline on the north there's only low plains and the occasional hill.
