Some of these imperfections include a social impact on the living standards of the people that pick the tea leaves. The economic impact can be demonstrated by the fact that Twinings tea has an annual turnover of $8.2 billion dollars, 42000 employees spare across 41 countries worldwide. Major environmental impacts have been documented including large areas of deforestation and thereby destroying the habitat of a number of endangered species. The production process uses an excessive amount of power. Twinings tea is consumed and traded in 115 countries and 7 billion cups are drunk each year.
