What is the difference between a natural hazard and a natural disaster?

    A cliff is a natural hazard. It only causes harm when someone faiks to see it and falls off. Yet it remains a cliff.

    An avalanche is a natural disaster. It causes harm, often without warning; it changes the landscape.
