The earth actually tilts on a magnetic pull between the north and south poles! During the N. hemisphere summer time, the top of the earth is tilted closer to the sun. As the top of the Earth tilts away, summer gradually goes back to winter. It is the same way for the Southern hemisphere, but the seasons are opposite because the south and north are on opposite ends of the earthhi and are closer to the sun at opposite times; )
