Explanation:

By striking an area far away from the main battle grounds, General MacArthur managed to positioned his troops in a different area that didn't really guarded by the enemy.

After conquering this area, the troops pushed the attacks from behind the enemy line. This made the enemy become suffocated because they're attacked from two different sides. In the end, the enemy's army became uncoordinated and eventually lead to their loss.
