What social gain has recently happened for women?

    Up to 1840s, women would lose their right to property once they were married (all going to the husband).

    Women's suffrage is fairly recent. Dating back only to 1920 in the United States of America.

    Until 1983 in Australia, women still had to have their passport signed by the husband for it to be valid.

    Only in 2018, we can see that women show up more in politics and there has never been this many women elected before in the United States.

    Socially speaking, women are more accepted in the world as equal and legislation is changing to reflect that. We now even have women as powerful CEOs of multi billion dollar companies. Although some places are advancing slowly regarding women and their social status in society (Iran and Saudi Arabia), there are advancements nonetheless.
