When and where did the war for independence from Great Britain began

    The Congress did not call for independence from Great Britain. The war began in 1775 when General Gage tried to break up a Massachusetts militia group and seize its ammunition and supplies. On the evening of April 18, 1775, Gage ordered his troops to seize munitions at Concord.
