    The american revolutionary war (1775-1783) also known as the american war of independence was one of the most important wars in the history of the world. it was fought between the kingdom of Great Britain vs. the 13 British colonies on the north american continent, the 13 colonies were fighting for: liberty, free press, right of speech, lower taxes, and many other rights. the american rebels or revolutionaries fought against the superior British forces for 8 years, and eventually they defeated them at the battle of Yorktown, Charleston and New York (the rebels) called the new nation, the united states of america, the freest nation in the world.
