    The trade exchanges had a number of positive influences on the city of Timbuktu. The city started becoming wealthy as a result of trade. IT also sparked education and made the city a center of learning. Its wealth also attracted many people from outside and made the city powerful

    With all the trade that went on there, it rapidly became a great place for learning. Religions, languages, ideas, philosophies, etc. were swapped there. Young men were sent there to learn about these things and as time progressed, it also became a capital trade center as well.
