Should the government be allowed to place a tax on items/goods / services that it does not believe we should be consuming? Or is that overstepping their authority?

    Answer: If they place extra tax on things they deem not good then yes that is an overstep.

    Explanation: However things like luxury tax are still in place for different reasons.
