    Explanation: Just to elaborate a little, it can be added that the National Liberation Front (the Front de Libération Nationale, FLN, in French), was, and still is, a nationalistic party in Algeria that took the determination in 1954 to put an end to more than one hundred years of French colonial presence in that country. This war for independence, known as the Algerian War or the Algerian War of Independence, lasted eight years, until 1962. It must be stressed, nevertheless, that the FLN did not start out as a political party, but more specifically as a liberation movement, which aimed at emancipating Algeria from France once and for all, something that other nationalistic organizations before it had not been able to achieve.
