    The Reconstruction era was an special time for Black participation on elections and on the political life of the country, they were very participant, including thousands of former slaves, they voted and elected several distinguished African Americans that held office, according to state records almost 2000 african americans held office during reconstruction, from local governments all the way to the senate, eventhough they never actually achieve proper representation.
