When the American troops landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day, they faced a barrage of gun fire from the German forces. Omaha is a place that is located on the coast of Normandy and the American forces landed there on 6th June 1944. The attack was against the German forces who were holding several places of France during World War II. The main target of the American forces was to secure a beach head. The German 352nd Infantry Division was ready for the American forces that landed on the beach. The Americans were hit by heavy firing from the German side and the American forces were not prepared for such heavy assault.
