The Seneca Falls Convention was the first convention on women's rights in the United States, held from July 19 to July 20, 1848, in Seneca Falls, New York. It was organized by Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The result was the publication of the Declaration of Seneca Falls, a document based on the Declaration of Independence of the United States in which they denounced the restrictions, especially political, to which women were subjected: not being able to vote, nor to present themselves to elections, not hold public office, or affiliate with political organizations, or attend political meetings. The text is considered the founding text of the feminist movement.
