The very famous Tennessee Backwoodsman that fought and died at the Alamo was David "Davy" Crockett. Crockett had recently arrived to Texas, possible under the impression that Texas was in better shape than what he found. He was also possibly hoping to have a better political career than what he had just recently left in Washington, D. C. "You may all go to Hell. I'm going to Texas." - Davy Crockett.
