What effect did the revolution in central and South America have on the social structure of South America?

In Spain's Latin American colonies, the social structure reflected inequality among the classes. Why would creoles be likely to support and lead revolutions in Latin America? Both of the revolutions inspired the Latin Americans and were also inspired by enlightenment ideas such as liberty, equality and freedom.
