Frederick Douglass' speeches on abolitionist issues were very impactful, because of his origin as a slave and the quality of his arguments, challenging prejudiced views that the Black men were intellectualy inferior to the white.

He argued that the Constitution was an element of freedom, defending that not only the Black Slaves should be freed but they should be acknowledged as civillians of the United States, with the same right as anyone under the Constitution.

He not only spoke on the African-American issues, but dedicated his arguments on the women's right cause, being the following prhase the motto of his newspaper, The North Star:

"Right is of no Sex - Truth is of no Color - God is the Father of us all, and we are all brethren."

He expressed his views through his newspaper; when he were invited as an orator and in his books, where he writes along with the history of his life his ideologies constantly improving and refining them with new editions.
