    The correct answer is Cohesion.

Unit cohesion is indispensable for a impenetrable and secure military force. Cohesion is more than being liked by others; it is the disposition to die for someone else. There are two kinds of cohesion: Vertical cohesion and horizontal cohesion.

Vertical Cohesion is the promise and bond of trust that has to exist between the Commander in chief, subordinate leaders, and the troops they lead. Horizontal Cohesion inside a present and giving unit requires reciprocal dependence in order to survive in combat.

Both categories of cohesion succeed from indestructible bonds of reciprocal confidence, trust and discipline that make survival possible under specific chaotic conditions in periods in which a war is taking place. Military direction must be instructed by leaders who have the trust of people who will live and die, sometimes, under their commands. Without the main components of unit cohesion, discipline and high morale, the armed forces would deteriorate into disorganized units of people armed with deathly weapons.
