What happens if there is a tie in the voting for a finding in the U. S. Supreme Court?

The opinion written by the highest-ranking judge is considered the winning opinion.

The decision of the lower court is upheld.

The case is sent back down to the lower court to review.

Nothing. It is not possible for there to be a tie since there are nine justices.

    One must fight to certain death for the tie to be broken (in very deep echoed voice)
