The main goals of the Texas Secession Convention in Austin are:

    - To consider how abolishment of slavery would affect Texas' economy

    - To discuss whether Texas should join the Confederate

    Explanation:

At that time, Texas has the highest slave population. Around 30% of the people who live in that state were slaves. if the slaves were freed, it will led to the situation where Texas would experience massive shortage in labors. This will negatively affect its economy.

This why many people who attended the convention agreed that Texas has nothing to gain by following Lincoln, and everything to lose.

So, they decided to secede the Union. But they're aware that Lincoln would most likely take military measures to force the abolishment of slavery. This is why they're also discussed on whether they should join other southern states under the Confederate Flag for the war.
